Belief Changes

Belief Changes

November 27, 2006

God
Who do you say God is?
Do you say God is a he
or a she? Or an it or a what?

There are those who say that
God is many
A god for every season, every reason
A god for you and for me
shaped and molded to our liking.

Others would say that
God is everything
And everything is God.
And God is nothing
if that's what you believe.

(As if believing something
alters its basic nature.  Like me
not believing
four plus four is eight.)

Some have names for God
names of some man's choosing.
The names are many . . .
I can fill in the blank.

Why don't we ask God what
He says of Himself.
And how he calls himself.
How he reveals himself.

In very early days God did
reveal himself to all
as I AM.  God always is
Always was.
God is whether I believe it
or not.

(As if believing something
alters its basic nature.  Like me
not believing there's

an American state called Vermont.)

God is the creator of heaven
and earth.  And all that is in
heaven and earth.
God has spoken throughout
history through
His Word.

In the former days, he has spoken
through his prophets. And
He has shown his character through
His creation.  He has made himself
known.

The radiance of his
exact representation has revealed Him.
God in the flesh.  Taking on
humanity to reveal himself. Existing
in the form of man by the name of Jesus.
Calling on us to believe. To trust.

(Since what is changed in believing God
is the one who believes He is;
being rewarded for seeking
after Him.)
