Vermont Live!

Vermont Live!

December 18, 2006

When we turn on Route 7 going north, I feel like we are home.
The green mountains are unveiled to the east as we drive at dawn,
Like peeling back the ornate Christmas wrapping to reveal the gift:
Vermont; One of God's gifts of land and beauty before us.

In the winter, the mountains are white and the birches' bark
matches the scenery in the woods and in the small town park,

Mighty oaks stand leafless; tall and strong reaching out to catch
the snow as if preparing balls to pelt one of us as we pass,

Pines are regal, clothed with new white overcoats accenting perennial greenery;
Its wise to wear layers in a Vermont winter

On the Third Day, He said, "Let there be plants, fruits and trees"

and driving to family and friends in Vermont, this is what we see.

Lake Champlain has a lot of frozen areas;

a spatial body of water bringing life and joy to the valley.
God's little drop for the people who live here.

The roads take curves with surprises for our eyes around the corner,
from one hill you can see acres of forest and fields,
from the valleys you can the skyscape silouhettes of the mountains.

I am moved to thank our God from whom all these blessings flow.
Persuading us with His goodness, His character to show
